Mustafa Suleyman, the AI CEO at Microsoft, argues that anything that's accessible on the open web is "freeware," and anyone can freely use the content. As for the websites that have clear disclaimers about not using their content without permission, Suleyman says that it's a "gray area," and he thinks "that's going to work its way through the courts."https://www.notebookcheck.net/Microsoft-AI-CEO-says-using-open-web-content-to-train-AI-models-isn-t-wrong.854699.0.html
How about this website? Do you guys consider all your content is freeware that they can use without acknowledgement or payment? When he says " gray area" I think that's his hope rather than a fact perhaps.
Mustafa is clearly not an AI researcher
All datasets for AI training are published on the web with a license on how it can be reused. The liceense terms applies to both humans and robots on how data, created for AI, can be used. He just invalidated 30 years of research practice and he's pretending like he is an AI CEO and can say whatever he wants.
So as per him the pirated content be it software, movies, music etc. is also freeware since it is available on the internet.
Think about the mindset it takes to openly say this. These giant corporations literally feel they can steal whatever they wish from anyone and profit off it. Eff AI and Microsoft.

Keep in mind it is "Microsoft" here.
A company that had openly stolen and distributed others IP embedded into their own.
(and has gotten caught for it!!)

Yes, MS doesn't even really care if you pirate their stuff. Cause it just helps keep their monopoly as they rather you pirate under their ecosystem than switch to for example linux and libreoffice
