This is just a new methodology being used to study Li batteries. But even if they overcome premature battery degradation due to normal use they will not overcome the inherent danger of combining "unsafe" materials. If the combination of materials is flammable then external damage will cause catastrophic failures.
Two main problems of batteries for auto: low temperature charge degradation and too fiew recharge cycle. Non of them fixed by proposed technology.
Solid state Sodium batteries is the future... But it'll take at least 5-10 years to see them in mass production.
