Title: New Tesla Model Y financing makes crossover cheaper than Model 3 thanks to 0.99% APR loan
Post by: Redaktion on May 11, 2024, 09:04:40
Tesla has announced that US customers can now buy a Model Y on a 0.99% annual percentage rate loan directly from Tesla, resulting in a lower monthly repayment than the compared to the cheaper Model 3, which does not qualify for the same deal. This deal puts the Model Y at a starting price of $602 per month for 72 months after federal tax incentives.

This is kinda scummy. What Tesla is doing is rolling in the $7500 tax incentive which not everyone will qualify for. The payment is still in the $800 range.

I can see a few situations where this could backfire on someone.

It'd be nice if they clearly labeled that. They could even add a radio button that shows you the price without any incentives. Super scummy they don't do either of that

To my surprise, Tesla does actually have that radio button in the pricing details. There's a radio button next to the text: "Include potential incentives and gas savings of $211 /mo."

I noted this in the article, but without the incentives and excluding taxes and fees, the base Model Y comes in at $603/mo over 72 months and an up-front deposit of $4,250. Including the incentives brings it down to $499, according to the Tesla page.
