The upcoming Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will include an updated version of the Power Profiles Daemon. Laptop users in particular, especially those with the latest Intel or AMD components, should benefit from the power management improvements.

Performance mode when plugged in and fully charged.

Balanced when plugged in and less than full battery

Low Power/Efficiency when on battery.

This is all I ever need.

Waiting for Zen 5/ Snapdragon X for my next Ubuntu laptop.
