Title: Researchers warn against using headsets like the Apple Vision Pro daily
Post by: Redaktion on February 25, 2024, 02:58:41
Researchers say that companies who are promoting the daily use of headsets like the Apple Vision Pro should exercise "caution and restraint" until further research is undertaken into their effects.

LOL!!!

In the seemingly desperate effort to find something wrong with the Vision Pro (besides the silly price that nobody is going to buy into) all they can come up with is:

- social isolation
- neck strain

Get real!!!

Ok, it is a computer you wear on your face/head and interact with. While VR/AR goggles have been around for a number of years by now and there are LOTS of other "issues" that new users have to train themselves to deal with:

- disorientation
- dizziness
- eye strain
- (a few others)

None of the 'issues' are show stoppers however the Jury is still out on having a 'killer' or 'must have' application(s) driving the acceptance and/or use of the devices.

Even besides eye strain, just based off how heavy it and resting on your nose, I feel in long term usage we're definitely gonna see some cases of crooked noses and weird deformed noses, similar to the dent in the head due to headphones seen in streamers

QuoteIt has pitched the device as something that you would use to replace your other devices including the iPhone, Mac and iPad.
apple never pitches devices as being able to replace one another, their business model is make you buy every device

To me it's obvious that you don't spend that much time wearing a screen 1 inch from your face all day. Even people working on computers all day have issues later, but, VR will definitely prove new issues for people who wear them more than a few hours at a time. You've already heard of people dropping things on the floor because there is no table actually in reality but they forget after a wile. There will be more things like this, but, for limited users under 2 hours a dayI don't see a problem

it's definitely bad for the eyes, this is very old advice from doctors and researchers to not place a screen close to your eyes. but this apple VR headset screen is very close to your eye, so you can already know the impact on the long term (few years). you can see many small channels on youtube has complain about dry eyes within just a week of use. how about a year of regular usage. basically, for those who care about the health of their eye's (which is very important part of your daily life) will avoids this type of devices. also, this device won't change your life and majority of people don't need it, remember iPhone and MacBook will do all of your workflow without this VR headset.

It's only a matter of time before someone becomes road kill because they're not paying attention. I saw it once.

I wouldn't discourage fans from using them. Someone has to be the first victim, paying for progress, even if it's a dead-end branch to begin with.

Unlike clinical idiots who believed in criminal declarations about "autopilot" in cars, they do not kill anyone, but only harm themselves (well, maybe their family), but at the same time help in improving technology..

The more fans there are, the more investments are made in this technology and the faster problems appear that will either be solved or bury the unsuccessful development.

Although it is obvious from the very beginning that this device is pointless with such weight and such a fit and is dangerous to health in many ways. And it will never gain popularity at least at the level of x86 computers. Even if there are 1000 ppi panels.

Another idiot is trying to prove something when it has been proven in the courts through successful lawsuits that there are no real autopilots. And everyone who said so at the company level was punished and shut up.

In the near future there will be no full-fledged autopilots. And this was confirmed by the management (forced to do this in the courts) of all the companies that developed them.
