For the first time since 1999, Sony made more money than Samsung. The South Korean juggernaut expects a memory price recovery this year, but last year's slump led to a 34% drop in Q4 operating profit.

Sony realized very early on that the key for sustainable growth is media content. Let the manufacturers and platform holders battle it out and pay you either in good profit or bad loss.

Glad to see it find it's foot after a near bankruptcy during 2009.
