Google Pixel 8 Pro debuted with a new sensor on the back, which has been seen as nothing much of a gimmick at launch. As Google didn't have the necessary approvals, it could only measure the temperatures of objects. That changed with the latest Pixel feature drop, as the sensor can finally record human body temperature.https://www.notebookcheck.net/Google-Pixel-8-Pro-finally-gets-the-ability-to-read-body-temperature.796962.0.html
Great, what a gimmick! An IR sensor is multiple times more usable but I guess it's reserved for cheap Chinese phones...
Yeah it's kind of (a lot) embarrassing tbh. iPhones consistently have a depth sensor that in addition to face unlock is now being used for features like custom face masks, Pixel Pro (only) has a temperature sensor that from what I can tell is wildly inaccurate.
