Title: USA finds Huawei Mate 60 Pro 'deeply worrying': US Secretary of Commerce threatens new sanctions
Post by: Redaktion on December 12, 2023, 23:05:21
Huawei has been largely driven out of the Western smartphone market by strict US sanctions, but the Chinese technology giant is not giving up. Several months ago, the company launched a 5G smartphone onto the market for the first time since the start of the sanctions, which is now causing a headache for the USA.

The US can't do anything to stop the fast delevlopment of new chips in China. US companies will loose more business thanks to the Biden administration. Biden gets his money from the Ukraine and China was probably not willing to pay him personally. Go China.

> US accused Huawei of violating sanctions
The company under sanctions cannot "violate" sanctions. Sanction is a threat: don't do business with them or I will not do business with you. Some third party can supply its products to Huawei(1 step) and then supply some product to US companies(2 step). In this scenario, step 2 is violation of sanctions by some third party company, not by Huawei.

I just love how US officials run around the world bashing foreign companies for dealing with chinese companies in a de jure free market economy instead of helping american companies to manufacture products capable of competing in foreign markets.
I think it would be more effective to find out why foreign consumers prefer to buy a Huawei Mate 60 Pro smartphone, which costs more than an iPhone 15 Pro instead of trying to force people into buying iPhone 15 Pro they don't want. Then, try to create a working environment where people will be able to innovate and design next market-competitive iPhone instead of saving pennies on your own employees to be able to deliver profits to 10% of population.

Quote from: CBC on December 13, 2023, 21:50:01China should sanction US companies and use the lame a** national security reason that the USA thrusts out there.
And at this moment, smart readers will immediately ask Chinese propagandists - why aren't the Chinese authorities doing anything serious against American companies? ))
Yes, for a simple reason - China is the king with a bare a**. No matter how stupid American officials were, they were still smart enough not to allow the most advanced equipment to be supplied to mainland China. That is why everything important is concentrated nearby in Taiwan and South Korea, which are under US control and covered by their missile defense system.

And the fact that greedy American capitalists ruined their own country - what's new in that? Greedy and cynical capital always flows to where it can squeeze more profit from the worker. It is obvious that in Asia labor is several times cheaper than in the US and EU. For this reason they killed the American and European working class. Leaving only layers consisting of speculators of all stripes as the "middle class".

China explicitly admits that it does not have the human capital to even catch up with the US in its current level of technology. But a real "center of power" must not only catch up with a competitor, but be able to get ahead of it, so that the world becomes more interested in cooperation with it than with the United States. So far, everything is exactly the opposite, to the screams of stupid propagandists in China, Russia, Iran and even more trifles.

Brains decide everything. But China clearly doesn't have enough brains. The quantity of the population does not translate into its quality of human capital.

The USA, of course, has become rotten to the core over the past 30 years, but it is still a leading center of scientific and technological progress, like its closest satellites in Europe and other countries. China is just a catching up industrial country rather than a post-industrial one.
Iron without brains is worth nothing...

We know America's antecedents. We know the system and the character. We also know China's line of thinking. As an African, which one do I prefer, none. However, amongst the 2 evils, if I have no options but to choose, I'll choose America. The Chinese have no heart nor restrain from any form of warped self interest. No balance of power. Leave the world to the Chinese, then see your whole existence go up in smoke. We wait to see how the power struggle pans out.

I remember they were a national security risk mentioning spying during the original sanctions. So how does this become "deeply concerning" since you are still not importing their products?

If it was for (obviously) petty market gains, it was bound for failure in the long run. You get ahead by selling them your innovations. Like how Qualcomm & Google sells their stuff\services to Huawei. And now you force them to produce their own, and you expect them to just sit there and cry over the sanctions forever? They are all companies driven by gain...

There have been claims of spying by China through information provided by the Huawei phones.
Whilst I believe we need to be open minded to the possibility of any country spying, has this ever been proven or is it simply USA protecting their phone manufacturing industry because Huawei were building a better phone?
I guess we will never know definitively.

Real sanctions would have brought China to its knees long ago, but the United States is so mired in ties with them over cheap goods (as well as the total destruction of its industrial belt and the middle class based on skilled workers and engineers) that it is pretending rather than actually blocking the possibility of getting more parts of technology by China. What was really dangerous for them was initially located in Taiwan. in South Korea and Japan, but not in China. The same thing is happening now with "sanctions" for Russia, only here the duplicity of the USA and allies is many times higher (because everything here is much more radical) and therefore it is much clearer even to ordinary people watching this whole filthy circus - they still get their oil and gas and other resources in a roundabout way (through India and other countries) and everyone also turns a blind eye to Russia's purchases of Western equipment in a roundabout way. If they wanted to really bring both of them to their knees, they would do it quickly. But the world does not consist and has never consisted of centers of pure good and evil (as naive children are taught in schools) - the world consists of a bunch of varieties of evil and scoundrels, with small inclusions of good people, scattered, fragmentarily, throughout all countries of the world and poorly united, for a number of objective and subjective reasons. Which sometimes, through incredible efforts (which the majority of the population, in fact, do not deserve, as the history of mankind has shown), manage to improve this world a little.
In such a reality, an ordinary person, even a progressive one with good intentions, has to choose one option of being and live with it. And many have no choice - they actually live in concentration camps behind barbed wire. Sometimes invisible but real, and sometimes real.

So there are many layers to the "onion" of reality, and the further you dig into understanding the world, layer by layer, the more you cry from despair and more and more powerlessness... and this only comes with personal experience, its accumulation and awareness of how everything is really arranged...

Has anyone given any thoughts about, why everytime China attains a breakthrough in Technology or Military, or just even in mundane things, the US Government along with their Megaphone (The Media) immediately start to question its validity or its importance? My analysis has come to one simple conclusion. We as a Nation have gotten to a point of no return, economically and in our standards. Just 30+ years ago we barely heard news about China, just the same as the previous 30+ or longer. They were considered uneducated, minimal in needed skills for advancement, along with a system of Governance that didn't support it's advancement. In less than 30 years China brought out of its population over 400 million workers, trained it in what was needed, built over 400 Cities, specializing in Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Transportation and Communication. A National network of fast and reliable Railroad, needed to move those workers around. While we, the USA, spent our Tax dollars in foreign Wars, and continuing to support Dictators, as long as they let the USA do what they wanted in their lands.. It's Antiquated foreign Policy, in use since the beginning of the 19 hundreds has been its aquilles heel. This is just a miniscule part of what we have let our elected leaders guide us to. I would need a library full of blank pages to be able to put everything in a condensed article.. Remember, don't Follow, Lead, or you will be left behind..

Big part of the reason is that China kept the basis of what makes a society work - stable families, while US has been degrading for the past 40 years. If you have a terrible environment to grow up in, then you won't be too motivated to focus on less relevant things such as educating yourself and working hard.

Also US and many other rich nations have become complacent and fat due to economic prosperity. Popular media and culture has ridiculed education for years. While groups of hard working people exist, it's shrinking day by day. Western kids are worried about being woke and PC as possible.

Lack of elected judges and prosecutors, i.e. a complete lack of trust in the judicial system and the personalities in it, as well as systemic corruption, nepotism, theft and blocking of social elevators for reasons independent of qualifications - this is why advanced scientists flee and do not want to work in China.

Also, stupid trolls telling fairy tales about how everything is fine in totalitarian China cause nothing but laughter. If anything, China is much more rotten than the United States and has no chance of rebuilding into an effective system. What everyone will soon see is the collapse of China and the Chinese Communist Party. As well as the collapse of totalitarian Russia, Iran and the like. Nature loves balance; as soon as the pendulum moves away from the energetically efficient state due to the desires of dictators, they quickly lead their countries and societies to complete collapse.

What remains for dictators when everything is already bad inside and the population is angry about the sharp deterioration in living standards? Bingo! Let's go to war against someone - we'll declare him an enemy and the Antichrist.

Ask yourself: why did Putin attack Ukraine if everything was fine with his economy and society? After all, this is complete absurdity - it is more profitable to wait (like the USSR) for someone to attack you, and then this is a pure patriotic war and a completely different situation in the ideological-mental field for the population. But he attacked first, although no one provoked or blackmailed him with an attack on Russian territory recognized by the international community.

It was the growing risks in the economy and the discontent of the active part (real citizens, and not those pathetic sheep who are ready for a slave existence) of the population (Putin was increasingly scolded by ordinary people by the end of 2021) that forced the dictator to attack first, despite the fact that he became the aggressor . As well as the actual collapse of the old economic model that lasted until 2012, forced him to attack Crimea in 2014, immediately after the Olympics.

Now this old fool and the same idiots around him have driven all qualified personnel out of the country, leaving the economy without human capital. And the system built of deliberate degradation of school education will finish off the remaining potential within 5-7 years.

China is larger and the system is more inert, but it is extremely dependent on external resources with such a large population, so in China the collapse of society can come suddenly, extremely unexpectedly for everyone. Because the performance of China's economy has been falling rapidly since 2014-2015. They practically have nowhere to get cheap labor. The population is aging. Sufficiently educated young people refuse to give birth to children in such a system; they are not satisfied with the future of children in an authoritarian country.

The United States is mired in the squabble of its kleptocratic elite, which is finishing off the economy and human potential. And it also needs to channel the anger of the impoverished population (of course from a much higher level than in China or Russia) towards some enemy outside the country. And if it doesn't help, then attack the "enemies" within.

All these methods have long been known from the history of mankind. Nothing new. When system parasites realize that the time has come to answer for everything they have done, they panicky begin to come up with excuses and point the finger at anyone, but not themselves. And naturally, this is only the tip of the iceberg - part of the population is directly to blame for the current situation, which in the case of the United States is most dangerous from the point of view of the outbreak of a civil war.

In China and Russia, the population simply does not have weapons in their hands - they are pure slaves of their kleptocrats, so if rebellion is possible there, it is only due to completely unbearable (literally animal) living conditions. But both the Chinese and the Russians are extremely patient slaves. Here both Russian and Chinese kleptocrats were lucky. Yes, in fact, this is why China and Russia are exactly the way they are (moreover, with the connivance of the West for 30 years).

On the other hand, what is the use of having weapons in your hands (as in the USA), if they have already learned how to skillfully manipulate people mentally? And the possibilities of these manipulations only increase along with the degradation of school education.

The winner will be the system that ensures its internal stability in the next 15 years. The more effective the judicial and executive powers, the more civil society, the more effective the optimization of the system, because in this case meritocracy always wins. In authoritarian, totalitarian countries like China, Russia, Iran, instead of meritocracy, nepotism and maximum inefficiency in any major projects flourish. This was proved by the collapse of the USSR, where educated people by the early 80s ceased to be respected at all in society (their incomes became equal to the incomes of ordinary workers), where total cronyism and inefficiency reigned. The system was rotten from the inside and collapsed by 1986. But the KGB survived and turned the whole country into a mafia. Now the population of Russia are complete slaves and work only on pain of death, men of active age certainly. Much the same as in Ukraine, where men are simply grabbed on the streets and dragged to the slaughterhouse. Only for some reason Ukraine is considered a "free" country, and Russia is considered totalitarian.

If China doesn't tone it down with all those nonsense claims to Taiwan (which they have only had direct sovereignty over since the 17th century) and the South China Sea then they will have their a$$es handed to them by a Western and Pacific-nation military coalition. Remember to win we don't have to conquer China, just destabilize the government enough for the CCP to lose its grip on the levers of state. Once that fool Xi is out of office we will be able to re-engage in an international project of mutually profitable investment with China.

Has anyone wondered why a free and democratic superpower like the United States is banning so many companies from a so-called totalitarian country China while China hasn't done anything in return to any American companies in China? Apple can sell as many iphones as they want, while not just Huawei can't sell in the States, America is all out to force other countries to ban Huawei, even not allowing them to keep old 4G network equipment. Likewise, no Chinese EVs are allowed to sell here but Tesla, GM, and Ford are welcome there in China. Add to this Macdonald, Starbucks, Walmart, KFC, Costco, Sam Club, Pizza Hut, Johndeer etc etc. They are all welcome to expand and sell products and services in China, and the totalitarian, autocratic communist government does not ban them nor force their people not to buy American products. Why can't they use the same excuse of national security as America to protect their own companies as any totalitarian dictator would likely do? If Huawei can't even be allowed to produce a simple hand phone with available technology out there to compete with Apple, why the autocratic communist country can allow Apple to not just sell in China, but allow it to actually take over the market share of Huawei without any restrictions? Puzzling! If the situation is reversed, putting America in China's position, what will America do to China if the latter is banning Apple and thousands of American companies?

The initial cause was the current account deficit of the USA to China. Free trade did not work any longer. Mutual human help is an ideal but must be made to work financially for all involved. China as the world's workbench can work only to some extent. Europe has started to notice that too great product dependency is also bad.

Quote from: RobertJasiek on December 19, 2023, 07:45:39Europe has started to notice that too great product dependency is also bad.
Europe and the USA began to notice that the interest on accumulated debts was becoming unaffordable and they no longer had money to pay their bills. And I really don't want to be responsible for the well-fed years while the debt was accumulating. Moreover, it will not be the kleptocratic elite who will have to answer (they skillfully avoid responsibility), but ordinary people, on whom they will blame all the problems.

What can be done to reduce the value of debt to creditors (both internal and external)? Bingo! Print money until inflation quickly turns debts in nominal value (and interest on them) into ridiculous amounts, easily paid in full in a short period, at par.

Well, it's like buying an apartment/house on credit, at a fixed annuity rate (and the total nominal amount of payment on this debt once a month), and then the purchase currency suddenly depreciates tens or even hundreds of times, the debtor suddenly receives nominal income tens of times more - because wages and incomes are nominally growing wildly than they were before the collapse of the local currency, quickly adjusting to the level of inflation, of course not for everyone, but for the productive, active layer of the population, for those for whom the active period of life is behind, such a time is almost always the way to the ruin of accumulated savings, in fact, the theft of their savings through inflation, those who have a stable job/income, well indexed to the inflation rate, benefit. And instead of a nominal, rigid fixed payment, conditional, for example, 25-30% of monthly income (or sometimes more), the debtor suddenly receives a nominal payment of only 1-3% of the monthly salary (or even less), the result is the payment of the entire loan literally in a matter of months, instead of the previously expected debt bondage of 15-30 years with a relatively stable local currency.

The debtor is immensely happy, as he successfully cheated the creditor.

Only in the case of an ordinary ordinary citizen, getting into such a situation is a huge luck (especially taking into account what the state and society are turning into in such a period), and in the case of states, such a situation is always a deliberate, criminal action of their authorities, deliberately, accelerated devaluation of your own currency, if you were lucky enough to take out debts in your own currency. And who chooses the authorities (or passively supports them)? Most of the population.

When this happens at the level of an ordinary citizen, the bank/housing cooperative usually resigns itself to losses (if it has enough capital for such losses and the case is not very widespread), and in the case of a scam from the state, civil unrest begins, especially when there are many creditors and they suffer greatly from such thieving actions of debtors. And if the creditor is another state and there is a fairly strong influence of society on the ruling stratum, this can lead to the start of a war with the debtor state, because all other options to call upon him to faithfully pay the national debt will be exhausted.

Well, approximately now the United States is in exactly this situation (and the EU for the most part, as well as Japan) - the powerful kleptocrats understand that the earth is starting to burn under their feet. Nobody wants to be responsible for rampant decades of accumulating unaffordable debts, not them, not the part of the population living in debt. Accordingly, the doctrine of searching for an external enemy is quickly put forward, with foreign creditors being accused and declared the enemy in the first place. There is a blatant attempt to destabilize creditor states, in parallel with pumping the system with the printing of fiat candy wrappers.

Inside, they are also looking for "enemies of the people", who are mainly those who have significant savings and who will lose the most, which means they will hold debtors accountable first of all. Whoever tries to summon him is declared an enemy.

The scheme is banal and historically known to everyone, but each time it is repeated in a new way in a circle in different states and empires. We accumulate unsustainable debts in our fiat candy wrappers as long as we can, then we throw creditors through the printing of fiat candy wrappers and then drain the wrath of the creditors or destroy the most desperate ones. And we begin again, when the dust, noise and commotion settle down, and people forget what happened before, with a gradual and inevitable change of generations (very rarely those who were robbed manage to pass on their hatred of debtors, in full, to their heirs, and then to their heirs, etc.).

Will it work out this time, come out dry from water, what do you think? Or will creditors (both internal and external) give them severe punishment?
