Title: GM kills new Chevrolet Bolt subcompact hatch for 2025 in favour of pricey EUV that erodes the idea of the affordable compact EV
Post by: Redaktion on December 08, 2023, 01:02:53
General Motors has confirmed that the upcoming Chevrolet Bolt will not make a return as the EUV. The implications of this include a potentially higher starting price, not to mention a much more expensive top-end trim, and the continued loss of the compact car on American roads.

This article is deeply misleading, and should be rewritten or withdrawn.

The subcompact Bolt EUV is more than 14" shorter than a Honda Civic sedan, and certainly does not lead to "the continued loss of the compact car on American roads" as the lede falsely concludes. Likewise, the caption claim that GM is "abandoning the compact hatchback entirely" is false, since the EUV is actually a subcompact hatchback, with a length of only 169.5".

Separately, the lede states that "the upcoming Chevrolet Bolt will not make a return as the EUV" which is also false, since GM has stated that the Bolt will return as the EUV.

Not up to your usual high standards, right?

Bolt EUV is only a few inches longer. Be happy they plan to sell such a low cost and therefore low profit vehicle.
