Title: Sony Xperia 1 VI slated to launch with in-camera authenticity tech out of the box
Post by: Redaktion on November 26, 2023, 17:51:58
The Xperia 1 VI (and 5 VI) are reportedly on the way as new flagship and sub-flagship Android smartphones respectively with the latest camera tweaks from Sony. They are said to go beyond hardware and into the "in-camera digital signature" tech also headed to flagship DSLRs of the same brand. The new digital signature is intended to counter the potential risks of images made or altered by AI.

Sony does not make DSLRs, and do not intend on developing, producing or releasing any DSLR cameras into the future.

Laughing in 7y pixel updates.

If Sony continues to support their smartphones for only 2!!! (two, dos, zwei) years, I kindly ask the whole world community to ignore this manufacturer until they stop ducking us! You pay premium price for a good (not the best) hardware, average software, and little to no security/sw updates. All adequate brands offer you 4+ years of updates.

Its wrong but they are making the assumption that all high end enthusiast or professional cameras are DSLRs which is of course false when you are aware all of Sony's high end cameras including the ones listed are Mirrorless. Essentially they are using DSLRs as a synonym for "high end professional grade" which is wrong but honestly expected

Interesting. For something like 6 years now, I was under the impression that DSLRs were going mirrorless. So what are the high end mirrorless cameras called? Point and shoot? Because they seem to offer the same level of options, with exception to having much better EV tech these days (not so much a decade ago).

I know people who still use Android 9/10 phones in 2023. Not everyone needs the latest software version. Also, best of luck saying that to people who buy phones through carriers and keep changing it every year or two. 🙃🙃

Technically the name would be DSLM, Digital Single-Lens Mirrorless cameras. The mirror that is used for the viewfinder that sits in front of the sensor is the Reflex(reflection) of the Digital Single-Lens Reflex cameras.

The cameras that use film instead would just be an SLR camera, skip the digital. But they can't be mirrorless because the light shouldn't hit the film until the shutter is pressed down so a mirror is used to reflect the view into the viewfinder hence doing the reflex part.

This sounds similar to what Leica did with the M11-P. Now that generative AI is a thing, it's about time we see wider adoption of this solution.
