Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, this week announced that the engineering and plans for the original Roadster have been made open source. Accompanying the announcement, Tesla published a webpage of PDF documents, including complete service documentation, diagnostic software, and circuit and connector information. This move is uncharacteristically repair-friendly, and it could help keep the original Roadsters on the road for a little longer. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Tesla-Roadster-goes-Fully-Open-Source-in-rare-repair-friendly-move.772023.0.html
All discontinued products should be forced to open source. If you don't want to maintain it going forward, let someone else do it
To be fair, Lotus doesn't make the Elise anymore and don't forget that the original Roadster shared the chassis with the Elise. So this is actually a great move.

Couldn't agree more. This can also open the door to any small-sized companies to create a better solution to the discontinued products.
