I don't understand the reason that north American still use this old technology when there're a lot of apps much better like What's app, telegram etc. They like to be different from the whole world. It's not about apps, but measurements, football and other things which are completely different in the USA. That's so confusing.

All messenger "technologies" are in the same class if they abuse data.

Well, old-school SMS works fine when your mobile data connection fails to deliver a Telegram/WhatsApp/Viber/Signal message...
