Title: Apple Vision Pro: Plans for cheaper second-gen version outlined in more detail
Post by: Redaktion on October 15, 2023, 19:49:02
The Apple Vision Pro has arguably failed to raise early-adopter enthusiasm as a high-end virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) platform. However, Apple might still hold out hope for less indifference to its successor, which is said to come with a vanilla counterpart that might drum up more support (and purchases). It is now thought to do so by launching as more of a hybrid between an iPhone and a Meta Quest 3.

"Then again, given Apple's track record, that discount is only said to bring the "Vision 2" down to perhaps US$1,500 at the cheapest to US$2,500 at the most."

Uhm... I just spent an evening with eight friends showing off the Quest 3... and most of them said that while they liked it, they're not sure they can justify the $500 for a base model. In the end, only one was sure they'd be getting one at some point.

It wasn't because the Quest didn't wow them - we spent all evening playing with it and everyone had a great time. It was the price.

What's the chances of any of them getting a Vision Pro even at $1,500?
