Title: Nubia Z50S Pro is touted to go beyond 1-inch mobile photography on launch
Post by: Redaktion on July 20, 2023, 16:49:41
Nubia has now officially updated its 2023 Z50 Android flagship smartphone series with a new variant based on the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Edition SoC. The Z50S Pro is also backed to rival other top-end mobile devices with cutting-edge 1-inch main rear camera sensors with many attributes shared with professional cameras - even if the actual sensor size in question is not one of them.

Yeah...that marketing is pretty deceptive.

Sorry, 1" sensors have a 2.7x crop.  If the lens is 8.29mm, and equivalent to 35mm, that means the crop is a whopping 4.2x.  It's still possible they're using a 1" sensor and cropping in for stabilization room or something, but this isn't close to competing with a true camera with a 1" sensor.

They say that it's an IMX800, a type 1/1.3 or something, so, deceptive marketing.
