Title: Robo and Kala TW220 2-in-1 OLED tablet review: Outperforming the Microsoft Surface Go 3
Post by: Redaktion on July 20, 2023, 09:54:21
Like it or not, Windows ARM is here to stay regardless of all the criticisms. The Robo & Kala TW220 directly targets the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 ARM by offering OLED instead of IPS and a much lower starting price of just US$599

Strange. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for phones/tablets is only 20-30% slower in single threaded apps than best Intel/Amd mobile cpus. This 8xc for laptop/desktops is 60-70% slower. No wander there is no widespread adoption.

"Like it or not, Windows ARM is here to stay regardless of all the criticisms"

So is Covid, that's not really much of an argument.

The reality is that for 90% of the world, what processor the computer has is irrelevent as long as it can run the software they want to to run at a level of performance they find acceptable.

Right now, that's not really the case for a lot of Windows users other then the segment that's just using Office.

Remember, we tried this already back with the first version of the Surface (have we all collectively forgotten that the Surface RT was ARM based or did Apple induce collective amnesia in everyone who writes tech articles?)

Unlike MacOS, it will take a very long time for Windows ARM to become a major player because Windows users aren't as concerned with the things it purports to fix and Microsoft can't just declare it the future as literally billions of customers would start screaming (and many would jump to Linux or macOS - I mean, if I have to start all over anyway and find all new software - why stay on a platform I can't trust anymore?).

Allen, please make sure your writing is accurate

The Surface Go 3 weight is about 500 grams only. Your article is comparing the weight of an SG3 with its keyboard cover at 700+ grams, against other devices without their keyboards.  SG3 definitely has the lowest weight in comparison to these devices.  Except perhaps on par with an iPad Air/Pro 11" with its Smart Folio Keyboard Cover.  For devices only, iPad Mini has the lowest weight, followed by iPad and SG2/3.

This is a poor journalism.

You do realize 8cx is made for Windows, right? 8 Gen 2 is made for Android and it's a completely different universe altogether. Even ChromeOS doesn't even get 8 Gen 2.

What impressed me about this tablet is its battery performance. It almost matches the WiFi Websurfing time of the Dell XPS 9315 2-in-1 tablet with a much larger 49.5Wh battery. It does show the ARM's advantage in battery life, even with Windows.
