Title: HP Dragonfly G4 laptop review: Small updates over the already excellent Dragonfly G3
Post by: Redaktion on July 18, 2023, 21:42:30
The Dragonfly G4 incorporates more recycled materials than its predecessors in the name of sustainability. Other than that, expect just marginal performance updates over the already excellent Dragonfly G3.

As soon as I saw the woeful AdobeRGB gamut I stopped reading. Maybe the OLED version is a lot better and worth testing.

15:54 battery duration and 24 ~ 35dB noise are overwhelmingly good but strong display mirroring and tiny arrow keys destroy the device.

And why would I (or someone else) get this Dragonfly over the AMD Dragonfly Pro version, if with the exception of the 2h shorter battery life everything else is better on the AMD model (CPU, GPU) and price is 300 dollars less?

Quote from: Allen Ngowe recommend checking out our review on the Elite Dragonfly G3 to learn more about the physical features of the laptop.
So you'll find them there. (https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Elite-Dragonfly-G3-13-5-laptop-review-All-new-design-and-performance.642716.0.html#toc-2)

The Pro is ~40% heavier, way biger due to 14 inch 16:10 and I highly prefer the 3:2 screen here. Also the Pro just has an FHD+ option with low DCI-P3/AdobeRGB coverage and it has 66 ms grey-to-grey -> severe ghosting. For a small ultrabook not everyone needs maximum cpu/gpu performance. Keyboard, chassis and touchpad have a way lower rating as well. Since keyboard, screen and portability are the most important factors for my use case, I'd pick last years cheaper Elite Dragonfly over this years Dragonfly "Pro".

This must be a paid ad, how can this justify a 92%?

I know NBC has a bizarre review system, where aggregates aren't equal devision, input devices count the same as performance despite subjectivity of experience, money doesn't count.. but then then it does and zero points are added for touch+stylus, despite being major input benefits for many users

But this thing, jeez. Its expensive, hot and performance is rubbish in most categories. There's literally no reason beside windows to buy this over a macbook. Yoga pro got 90%, but you can draw on that, and it's like 40% cheaper.

That is not true. Stylus counts towards the connectivity rating.

It isn't running hot. 40 degrees Celsius under full load is not hot.

And the performance isn't rubbish for a very lightweight office laptop. You are making this device sound way worse than it is. It is a very good laptop for business travelers.
