Just why do these shady Chinese companies love dual Ethernet ports so much? Is Realtek paying them for it?

Most users will be just fine with zero Ethernet ports. It is 2023 not 2013.

AAEON is part of Asus, a Taiwanese company. Asus is well known.

Dual ethernet is useful in networking and embedded applications where it serves as a gateway or connects to two different types of networks (IP/ethernet on one, industrial protocol on the other). Having options is nice, and they're generally cheap to add.
