Title: Efficient Intel Meteor Lake described as "Zen 4 Phoenix Killer" as leak claims Intel is working on a 40-core Arrow Lake CPU
Post by: Redaktion on June 03, 2023, 23:21:21
According to the latest leak by Moore's Law Is Dead, Intel Meteor Lake is expected to beat AMD's latest Zen4 Phoenix processors while the 2024 Arrow Lake CPUs reportedly perform up to 40% better in multi-threading vs Raptor Lake CPUs. Furthermore, the leaker claims that Intel will use TSMC's 3 nm process for the ARL-S desktop Core i9/Core i7 and laptop Core i5/i7 processors.

It can be. Make it in volume, and give it to us for cheap.

IDK if TSMC tiles are a help or supply constraint.

There is no capacity in TSMC available to intel.

+1 Intel has its factories at 7nm TSM at 3nm.
I am very happy that Intel is catching up, the more competition the better.
Intel's problem is that it abandoned the laptops where AMD became strong, RDNA improved year after year until the current RDNA 3 while the 13th gen of Intel Xe was not updated in 4 years and that is why you cannot play AAA games and with AMD Yes.
Phoenix currently has Artificial intelligence, the 13gen does not have, hopefully the 14gen does.
Currently the best quality/price is the new acer swift edge 16 (sfe 16-43) let's hope intel does something similar.

There is only one small problem - the current generation AMD processors are not available for sale almost everywhere, at best, the ratio is 1:10 in favor of Intel on the shelves, where the 13th generation is already being sold with might and main. And as always, the only company with 7940HS/7845-7945HX on the shelves is again only Asus, they are always the first to get access to AMD processors in every year, without exception. Where are all the other manufacturers?

Oh yeah... AMD themselves have said that they are deliberately holding back production of Zen4 to sell off the old Zen2-Zen3+ junk... And to keep Zen4 prices high.

And when will we see mainstream Zen4 laptops, including the U series? I still can't even find the Zen3+ U series in 15.6-17.3 models in stores - try to find it, interesting models even in the USA - the chances are minimal (and the practical absence of reviews with them on this site only confirms this)

And what are the chances of AMD with such a policy to increase market share in laptops? Zero. They are losing the market from 2022 again in favor of Intel.

And as Intel itself assures, by 2025 it will outstrip TSMC in terms of transistor density. And then what will AMD do if Intel again has the best process technology on the market? Again oblivion or bankruptcy, if it is also smoked out of the market for game consoles and servers?

Intel itself was actually already bankrupt, but it was saved at the expense of taxpayers (here's "capitalism!") by the US government by providing huge subsidies.
