Title: Rivian u-turns on Tank Turn, raising questions about environmental impact of heavy off-road EVs
Post by: Redaktion on May 30, 2023, 22:22:57
Rivian has tanked the Tank Turn feature that was slated to come to the Rivian R1T. The feature, which would allow drivers to spin the wheels on opposite sides of the electric vehicle in opposite directions to turn the vehicle on the spot, was pitched as a boon for off-roading. The eco-friendly reason for the feature's cancellation has stirred up some criticism related to the weight of the Rivian.

What a sorry excuse...there are countless different ways this could be prevented, for example temporarily stopping the vehicle if turning past 360°, because technically you just don't need to turn past 360° unless you're fooling around. Or limiting the speed at which the vehicle turns unless the suspension detects artificial surfaces.
