Title: PS Vita 2 or similar Sony handheld hinted at by multiple sources and tipped to arrive before the PlayStation 5 Pro
Post by: Redaktion on April 04, 2023, 19:51:13
A PlayStation Vita 2 or Sony INZONE handheld gaming computer could be released at some point in 2023. In addition, it has been mentioned that this Sony handheld will turn up before the much-rumored PlayStation 5 Pro console. Interestingly, a prediction that a PlayStation 5 Portable device would hit the shelves this year was made back in 2017.

What's with these ps5 pro rumors?  what would a ps5 pro offer? 8k isn't becoming prolific like 4k was before the ps4 pro came out, and giving developers another sku to target is a headache that causes problems.  we've seen this with the series s and series x.  even though series x should be outperforming the ps5 by a tiny bit, developing for both often results in games that have lower framerates and or frame pacing issues more prevalent.

I had/have a Vita. It didn't feel loved, it felt like Sony neglected it. A few decent games and many ended up being 2.5 D.

Maybe with better tech these days it'll be better supported. It was a huge disappointment IME.

It's most likely a screen with buttons for streaming games from your home PS5, not an actual gaming handheld. Think Wii U screen-controller. Sony has absolutely no way of supporting a dedicated gaming handheld right now.
