Post by: Redaktion on March 22, 2023, 18:00:24
SAMT has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for its new FlexMirror Portable Monitor. The gadget has a Samsung OLED display which covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. You can wirelessly connect the monitor to various Android and Windows devices, plus the gadget is compatible with the Nintendo Switch and MacBooks via USB-C.

I'd buy 17-18" 2k OLED.

Is that contrast ratio number accurate? Because that is extremely poor for an OLED.

The product looks fine as a whole, though you would think that a grassroots kickstarter situation would be doing more to "be the change" so to speak. While OLED is nice, it's odd that this isn't anything higher than 60Hz 16:9 FHD. Maybe it's a panel supply situation.

Hmm, I assume you mean 2.5K 2560x1440 / 2560x1600? Let us think critically of the marketing misnomers! "2K" is an outlier in width-based marketing-promoted display terminology, and doesn't really make sense for resolutions wider than around 2048 pixels.

I agree that an 18" 2560x1600 OLED would be great, especially with a good refresh rate and a reasonable PWM situation.
