Truth be told, the 7800XT is already out, it's been mislabelled as the 7900XT to jack up the price. What we will get as the 7880XT will actually be the successor to the 6750XT and should be called the 7700XT and so on. Just a ruse to move pricing up a whole tier like Ngreedia.

It is all too little too late.  Gaming GPU's are no longer the mass market product they used to be, so pricing will be set accordingly for the foreseeable future.  AMD and Nvidia clearly believe this as well and are clearly pricing them as low sales luxury items.  Holding back stock to create fake shortages is just sheer desperation, it show that they didn't expect it to be this bad and they are unsure themselves of what to do next.
