According to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Apple will opt for OLED displays in both iPad Pro models and the MacBook Air in 2024. This would be a change for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which currently uses a mini-LED panel, and the MacBook Air and iPad Pro 11, which both use IPS LCDs. Young also claims these devices, including the MacBook Air, will support Apple's ProMotion technology with a 120 Hz variable refresh rate. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Apple-may-pivot-to-OLED-displays-for-2024-iPad-Pros-and-MacBook-Air.674154.0.html
Hope so... I was all set to get a 12.9" iPad pro but the current pro mini-led gives me eye strain. I just cant handle the display for long periods. The 11" side lit led is fine as are the 12.4/14.6 samsung galaxy tablets with oled. Its just the mini-led. Im guessing its all the mini-leds pointing directly at the viewer instead of side lit on the 11". Self lit pixel on oled don't give me any problems. I won't buy a mini-led ipad though which was sad as thats what I wanted before I spent time with it.
The one pictured from the iPhone is PenTile RG/BG (actual orientation 45 degrees vs. the photo), whereas many large OLED tablets today use full RGB. Is this speculation that the iPad will be PenTile, or more of a quick match by ecosystem rather than product type?
