Title: HP ZBook Studio 16 G9 laptop review: Workstation with 120 Hz DreamColor display
Post by: Redaktion on November 13, 2022, 16:13:08
For the ninth generation of its ZBook Studio mobile workstation, HP is using a larger 16-inch display in the 16:10 form factor, and the DreamColor screen now runs at 120 Hz. A Core i7-12800H and the professional Nvidia RTX A2000 provide sufficient performance.

Very weak for GPU rendering.

"Dream Color" without 30 bit(HDR)?
3840x2400x120x30 ~ 33.2Gbps.
3840х2400х120х24 ~ 26.6Gbps and even this bandwidth exceeds the capabilities of eDP1.4 (25.92Gbps max without service overhead data), so this is the first panel with eDP2.0? But then the question is immediately - the author did not say a word about HDR (30bit) support for panel. Otherwise, what kind of "Dream Color" is this, right?

It is time to abolish the Latin letter Z, as the ordinary Hindu swastika once became a bad symbol.
And to forbid western sociologists to call the youth generation as Z... after all, Z is now in disgrace. ;)

I've had this computer for over a month and it has been good. I generally agree with the review's points. One issue with the article is that it says "no usb c charging" but it does charge on USB-C, it's just picky about high wattage USB PD spec standard chargers. Also I've found battery life can be improved to over 8 hours by turning down screen resolution (to QHD) and refresh rate (60Hz), as well as lowering the performance slider on Windows. As for the Z logo, unfortunate, but that's what stickers are for.

In no case should this be done, since 4k is not completely divisible by 2560 - the picture will be guaranteed to be muddy. This is not a CRT. But fhd is divided. Therefore, this screen has two native resolutions, in terms of pixel sharpness - 4k and 1920x1200.

And it is for the same reason that only 4k panels should be installed on all "gaming" laptops. And installing 2.5K panels is complete nonsense, or rather, greed on the part of manufacturers, especially since 2021, when IPS panels 4k@120Hz have already appeared on the market, and now 4k/144-165Hz/HDR on eDP2.0 are also appearing.

At least, HP may have the choice to consider offer "HP" logo in Zbook laptop products, at least via customization service. It is better to offer some choice pleasing customers and earn some money in the same time than to place customers in the only emotionally conflicting option.

But who can tell it to HP?
