Title: Intel demonstrates next-gen Thunderbolt protoype capable of up to 120 Gbps
Post by: Redaktion on October 19, 2022, 18:01:04
Intel showed off a prototype of the next generation of its Thunderbolt standard. The as-of-yet-unnamed next-gen Thunderbolt doubles the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4 while providing bandwidth of up to 120 Gbps for displays. The new Thunderbolt version supports the latest version of USB4 and DisplayPort 2.1.

Doing the math, this would be 2560x1440/"2.5K"/"QHD" @480Hz rather than the marketing misnomer "2K" that's sometimes attributed to the res. Actually, there should even be enough bandwidth for slightly above it.

Don't just forward promotional material at face value!

They even properly didn't use or people used tb4 because of he greediness.
So now I wonder who will need this and how expensive it is going to be... It will be total FAIL I already predicted...
