Sony was only able to achieve the high PPI's on PSVR2 that they did by moving back to a god forsaken PenTile subpixel layout (aka just 2x subpixels per pixel vs the normal 3x) from PSVR1's proper RGB stripe OLED, meaning that the on-paper ≈2Kx2K resolution is absolutely NOT indicative of PSVR2's actual level of image clarity!
When it comes to VR in particular, whole pixel count is mostly irrelevant and often even intentionally misleading (like in this case). All that REALLY matters is subpixel (aka individual light-up-able element) count/density per degree of visual space/FOV!
As such, I'll be very, VERY upset if the micro-OLED's that Apple ends up using are ALSO cheating to hit those spec table numbers with god forsaken PenTile...
