Title: Sony Xperia 10 IV smartphone review: Mini smartphone with outstanding battery life
Post by: Redaktion on September 14, 2022, 17:01:28
Sony is relaunching its 6-inch smartphone and is making an interesting offer to fans of compact mobile devices. The Xperia 10 IV scores with a very slim and waterproof case, has a razor-sharp AMOLED display and clearly outperforms many XXL smartphones in terms of battery life. However, there are also a few weaknesses.

Two months after the phone was available to buy in EU, finally we have a NBC review. I guess it's "better late than never" :) You would think they took time to do things right, but no, this is a sloppy job, see below.

QuoteThe internal storage can be expanded via microSD card. There is also room for up to 2 nano-SIM cards in the card slot. eSIMs are also supported.

The International version which solds in Europe (XQ-CC54) doesn't have the tray made for 2 physical SIMs. It's only Micro SD + one SIM. I tried to put another SIM in mine and it doesn't fit. The Asian version has room for two nano SIMs, but ditches the eSim. See for yourself in the manual online.
That's very unprofessional from Sony, to advertise a phone as dual SIM, when you technically have the dual function only with an eSim (international version), or if you're in Asia.
But hey don't be sad, the Bulgarian review sites (***Arena) didn't caught this neither. That speaks volumes for the superficiality of today's reviewers. They don't really use the products they are reviewing.

QuoteIn terms of temperature, the Xperia 10 IV is pleasant to use at all times because the smartphone only heats up to a maximum of 33.4 °C, even under permanent load. Internally, everything stays cool.

I was able to bring mine from 23C room temperature to 43C (self reported battery temperature) in less than half an hour, by activating wi-fi hotspot (tethering) and transferring a few MB/sec while on 4G data connection. The phone reported overheating and stopped the hotspot function at 43C battery temperature.

After seeing "GPS test: loop", I am afraid that phone will give you wrong instructions when using navigation. Is there a chance this issue could have been fixed by software update? Have owners experienced issued with navigation?
