Volkswagen's CEO Herbert Diess is of the opinion that Level 3 autonomous driving definitely requires a LiDAR in addition to the cheaper cameras-only solution that, say, Tesla uses for its Full Self-Driving Beta mode. Elon Musk, however, is on record saying that he'd be 'shocked' if the FSD Beta doesn't achieve better safety vision than human drivers this year.

Does this site have a bit of a anti Tesla Bias?
Noticing a lot of coverage of negative stuff towards them.
But who knows, I might be imagining it.

I think it simply has a bias towards sensation like a tabloid. Controversies generate more engagement, therefore more revenue from advertising.

World conspiracy or the Tesla cult is real!
Technically LiDar is a camera....just one that utilizes sensors rather than the visible spectrum.
Camera: a device for recording visual images in the form of photographs, film, or video signals.
Image: a representation of the external form of a person or thing in art.
Wait! We need LIDAR to be able to autonomously drive!? 🤯 Quick, someone tell all the humans driving around using only 2 "cameras"👁👁they're doing it wrong! 🤣
Yes, humans manage somehow, even though their "cameras" are much worse and they have a slower reaction time. It must be the software.
"debunks" is misleading, should be replaced by "disagrees with", as It's just a difference of opinion.
Elon is right about cameras only FSD. The only problem is a quantum processor is needed to achieve perfect interpretation of the data coming from the camera.
