Google has released a trio of new adverts that supposedly show the benefits of its Pixel smartphones. Not only does the manufacturer promise up to 48 hours battery life, but it promises better security thanks to its Titan M chip and even a more polite way of blocking unwanted callers.

My smartphone lasts even longer than the claimed 48 hours of the pixel phones. It lasts 48 weeks between charges*
*small-print: using a special power saver mode, where all functionality is disabled, also known as "powered off".
48 hours isn't impressive at all. I only charge my phone every 3-4 days, and usually only to between 50 and 80%. Meaning a 100% charge would easily last four days, or twice this claim, and that's without having battery saver enabled. Granted, I hardly use it, which is why it lasts so long, but the point is that 2 days is nothing to get excited about, and it's completely meaningless without more info, such as SoT, phone use, etc.
I have a pixel 5 that I purchased on black Friday. I easily get 48 hours between charges. I use my phone all day long. I don't have battery saver turned on. This is a great phone.
I get at least 72 hours out of my pixel 5. Usually closer to 100. I'm actually pretty damn impressed with the battery life.
