Sequential read and write rates approach that of standard SATA III SSDs all in a USB drive just a fraction of the size. How it might sustain such high performance rates over long periods, however, can be tricky.

So, why doesn't this get the aluminium heatsink treatment? Just make the fins long and it's skin-friendly. The name is certainly gamer-y and cringe enough to deserve some black-painted metal.

Albeit the considerable heat, the issue here may be cache exhaustion. Some of these devices have SLC/MLC caches with TLC/QLC storage to improve the burst speed and overall write endurance. Since TLC/QLC cannot keep up with the cache, the sustained speeds may be impacted over large transfers.
