Title: Alienware m15 R4 laptop in review: Now also with a mechanical keyboard
Post by: Redaktion on June 08, 2021, 06:57:54
How does the Alienware m15 R4 perform with the fastest laptop graphics card that's currently on the market? Is the upgrade from an RTX 3070 to an RTX 3080 worth it? What are the advantages of the new mechanical keyboard that is optionally offered by Dell? These and other questions are answered in our detailed review.

When it comes to endurance, the main problem is that it lacks Optimus. Something you repeatedly fail to touch on (AFAIK some configurations do have it and some don't). And while competition with Optimus might be miles better when it comes to browsing or video playback (since dGPU is off), it won't be that much better for gaming. Gaming on the go will always call for compromises (locking frame rates, lowering details or resolution). You can't play for hours on a system that takes well over 100 W. Trivial mathematics.

Couldn't help but notice your GPU-Z screenshot showing Resizable BAR is Disabled for the RTX.

You might wanna update the vBIOS (from the official dell site) to get Resizable BAR, and maybe a slight boost in scores after that.

Has Dell has solved the M series heat issues with its "Quad" model X series innovations?
