Acer's top-of-the-line Predator Helios 500 gaming notebook has received a significant upgrade. It now ships with an Intel Core i9-11980HK processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card with 16GB VRAM, and a 17.2-inch 4K 120Hz mini-LED screen. It will be available for purchase sometime in Q3 2021, starting at EUR 2,499 (US$3,042).

When will laptop manufacturers understand that everyone wants at least 16:10?

WOW, I'm blown away by the 2021 refresh of the Acer Predator Helios 500!  I was tentatively planning to purchase the newly refreshed 2021 MSI Creator 17 (once it becomes available and the reviews are in).  I have the 2020 Creator 17.  But the announcement of the 2021 Predator Helios 500 has put the brakes on my buying plan!
The Mini LED panel on the 2021 Creator 17 will be unchanged from the 2020 model.  So, the 2021 MSI Creator 17 will have a 17.3" Mini LED display, 60 hz refresh rate and 240 local dimming zones (that only work with HDR content by the way).  The 2021 Acer Predator Helios 500 will have a 17.2" Mini LED display, 120 hz refresh rate and over 500 local dimming zones. Again, depending on the reviews, the Predator Helios 500 seems to be the clear Mini LED winner and the notebook I will buy!

As soon as smartphone manufacturers (which often are also laptop manufacturers) understand that we all want 16:9 or 16:10 phone displays.  I won't be holding my breath until it happens.  :D
