Recently, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau made a public commitment to improved cameras in the upcoming 9 flagship series, thereby fanning rumors that these phones would launch with Huawei-esque Leica co-branding. However, a reliable tipster now seeks to quash this idea, claiming the original leak behind it is false.

It doesn't matter if it's from Leica or not, the finally released Zeiss ZX1 has a horrendous JPG engine. Just because they make reputable optics doesn't mean they really know their way around computational photography or the digital side in general.
It's just nonsense marketing as Apple can produce better images without any Zeiss or Leica partnerships.
Lenses are too small to make a difference, and these top optical manufacturers don't use the same quality materials as in the normal products.

Apple produces great images because their cameras are made by SONY in addition to collaborative software. Huawei has consistently been outperforming apple ever since they invested in superior camera hardware tech and partnerships that saw their cameras outperform EVERYONE in 2018. And no the lenses are not too small to make a difference, this barrier in hardware was overcome with the use of multiple cameras and sensors.
