Title: AMD's Frank Azor hints at plentiful Navi 2x GPU launch stocks that could prove problematic for Nvidia this holiday season
Post by: Redaktion on September 25, 2020, 14:54:39
Nvidia's RTX 3000-series launch was not that successful due to the extremely limited card stocks. The situation should be improved towards the end of October, right around the same time AMD is planning to release the Navi 2x GPU series. Will team red pull a paper launch a la Nvidia, as well? Frank Azor is confident that this will not be the case.

Yeah...Amd....stock....

*looks at renoir*

More like lack of stock.

On the other side i'm pretty sure it's been confirmed the units were around the same as the 2000 series launch so calling it paper launch is a bit petty.

Azor later noted that he did not mean that there was enough stock, only that it wouldn't be a paper launch (effectively no stock, like Nvidia is suspected to have had, although nobody can say for sure due to all of the corporate secrecy, maybe they had about the same numbers as AMD will have).

But it does seem like he hopes for a smoother launch with some bot countermeasures in place, at least.
