This is how not to design a laptop. If using one port blocks access to an adjacent port, then you know your engineers screwed up somewhere along the process.

I'm not surprised. Chuwi devices, everybody knows that they are crap.
I'm writing with an ASUS R.O.G and I have the same problem with two USB connectors, so this is not an exclusive problem of low end equipment.
A pitty I can“t upload images to this post

You don't seem to have problems with those ports. But Chuwi is not a big US OEM, so let's accuse them for something that EVERYONE is doing.
Who failed? The designer of the new device that embraces the latest standards, or the designer of adapter that supports the standards of 20 years ago?
or was it the person who bought the adapter in the first place?
That's right, let's hit on one company for something everyone's doing. Heck, I can't even put 2 usb drives side by side in my XPS 13 either.
And dude your usb drive is chunky AF.
Can confirm Lenovo is guilty of the very same sin.
Actually, very few, if any laptop manufacturers are doing the right thing by putting the interfaces evenly across the left and right edges as well as the back.
Can you charge via usb C?
Typical Allen Ngo click bait rubbish - a USB-C port is not supposed to handle such a huge dongle! A USB-C cable or cable head belonging to typical USB-C devices are usually much slimmer than that ugly thing you chose to plug in.
Who the hell would want to plug in what looks like a Logitech Unifying Receiver into such an ugly & huge USB-C to USB-A adapter for use like that?
You yourself claimed that there is a USB-A port on the right side of the device. But you contrived to do this nonsense. Clearly the engineers intended that when you plug in the power cable, the USB-C should be used normally with other devices. My USB-C hubs, docks or charging cables would all properly fit next to the power cable.
No wonder so many people are complaining about this writer!
Theoretically informative for elderly users who do not have any USB C/Thunderbolt products introduced since 2015.
Anyone the slightest "tech savy" or who didn't spend in a coma the past 5 years, already knows how to work around this "limitation", but then again: if you buy cheap, you buy twice.
Anyone know the size of the 12v 2A DC jack plug for the Gemibook??? Need to buy a UK charger to replace the EU with adapter.
Thank you kindly.

Scott.
