Title: Dell G7 15: A new design with more powerful components and optional 300 Hz or OLED displays, but no numeric keypad
Post by: Redaktion on June 23, 2020, 17:02:33
Dell has overhauled the G7 15 with a refined design and more powerful components. The G7 15 7500 will be available with up to an Intel Core i9-10980HK, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q, 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. 144 Hz and 300 Hz IPS or 4K OLED displays are available too. The new Dell G7 15 has lost its numeric keypad, though.

that design looks awful, when look at the Dell G5 design that looks so much nicer than the Dell G7 design, like the G7 as gone alienware style

Hmmm... it lost the media keys it has on the current iteration (repeat / play/pause / skip)

And nope. I don't consort with castrated keyboards. Thanks for ruining an otherwise decent machine, Dell.

Where is the AMD option?  I'll wait for that one.

Enjoy the wait cause that won't happen. Why is an OEM obliged to launch an AMD version of each of their products? Did you ever think that maybe part of these products are made with the help of Intel? Maybe they are based on Intel designs? No, you didn't think about that. OEMs generally rely in big part on manufacturer designs and blueprints. If AMD cannot deliver good solutions for their OEMs you won't see good products from OEMs, because designing and polishing a platform is not OEMs responsability, it is AMD/Intel responsability. And just so you know, Intel has invested A LOT more time, effort, resources into helping OEMs creating slim, fast and quality products. AMD, well, it didn't.

The design looks almost identical to the Alienware M15... makes sense that Dell would want to consolidate their laptop designs, but it's sad to see the G series' business-style design get replace by this new toy-like design.
