The Sony WH-1000XM4 will have an IR sensor for pausing and resuming playback, The Walkman Blog has confirmed. Due to be released on June 23, Sony's new premium over-ear headphones will feature a MediaTek Bluetooth chip too, eliminating the possibility that the WH-1000XM series would continue to support Qualcomm's aptX and aptX HD codecs.

Hope they fix headband issues.
lol 350. Anker soundcore life 2 from Walmart, try them. You will be surprised.
So since Sony WH-1000XM4 headset will not support aptX, you think the sound quality will be impacted?

Not likely, LDAC shouldn't have a significant difference from aptX, theoretically.
:-\ I'm optimistic but I'm going to wait until rtings.com does their comparison to make sure there isn't a step back in quality before i buy it.
Although if they advertised compete compatibility with ps5 3d sound I'd be easier convinced

I know guys like you who always criticize expensive stuff that are worth their price without actually ever using them. You can't compare the WH1000XM4 to some cheap Anker soundcore life 2 with Bluetooth 4, intermittent disconnection problem, noise cancelling not always working, no multi-device connection, no friendly app...
Wait until you try the new wh1000xm4, Bluetooth 5.0, multi-device connection, LDAC codec supported, auto-stop/play sensor, improved mic for calls, great app with many features which allow you to choose the noise cancelling level and sound eq the way you want it, you can also turn off the firmware update which stops update bugs and allow you to keep the sound the way you want it. The headphone is also one of the lightest weight over-ear headphones with 255 grams which allow anyone to wear them for longer time than most of it's competitors. Except the missing aptx codecs, these headphones are worth their $350. Cheap headphone seekers should go buy defect Anker soundcore life 2 which will give them less fun but some hell of problems.
