The OnePlus 8 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro are both excellent smartphones, but which of the two "flagship" killers should you purchase? While the two may look similar, there are quite a few differences that are worth considering before you make a decision.

One comes from a manufacturer who actually cares about getting their devices timely updated, and officially supported by 3rd-party ROMs such as LineageOS. Should your phone break, they have a pretty much worldwide service, all you need is to ship back your device according to the instructions. The other is an "shady" operation that installs all sorts of dubious apps and build-in advertisement in their iPhone-esque stock ROM. They lock your bootloader for an arbitrary amount of time that is usually 1 month, and in order to get it unlocked you have to provide your phone number and access to your personal data for the duration of the wait period. Should your phone break, they'll just make up excuses in their laughable "global customer support". If you are lucky, the store will repair your phone, not that crappy manufacturer.
If you don't know which is which, then you are a really poor customer that does not do his homework.
Stop the nonsense! For a while now these things cost 1000 bucks. They were flagship killers at 300-400, 500 at most. I guess they pay you the rest

Actually, the official price in Europe is even more expensive than that.

Starts at 999€, direct quote from Xiaomi, not shady resellers.
Both have curved screens, which should i/u purchase?..... Neither
Don't buy either devices.
Both companies have lost their initial objective of bringing affordable phones to the market, now they've joined the avaricious league.
With solidarity, we as consumers should ignore all these 1K+ devices and like Apple they'll soon get the message.
Purchase an iPhone SE2020 at half the price.
Thank you for the good article, a few comments;
- You mentioned flagship killers. A flagship killer is a cheaper model that has some features that flagships have as well. These are actual flagships.
- It's worth taking the speakers into account as well. Not sure what OnePlus has, but Xiaomi has the best audio in a smartphone yet according to DxOMark.
- Unfortunately at this moment Xiaomi has only the 256GB/8GB version released for the global market. Having 12GB RAM would therefore definately be a pro for OnePlus.
Flagship killer is the Mi Note 10.
Same body as Mi 10 Pro. Just lacking 5g and fastest processor. Easily something I don't need. I picked mine up for £350
