Not only the price... But if I have to jump trough hoops to buy it, and then the price will change and limited availability...

That's too much effort for what is basically enthusiast hardware. I'd rather just get the RPi now instead if "hoping" to be able to buy this in the next 6 months

I can appreciate that the price of the Raspberry Pi makes it available to a very large community that has greatly contributed to its success. I don't see why certain parts of the Community can't have a higher priced option with more capabilities that they are willing to pay for as opposed to waiting for a new system that is limited by a price point? Why can't we have both and have a choice? It's the software compatibility that is important, let the hardware grow as the market will bear! That was every part of the community can pick a hardware platform that meets its budget needs.

Where is it stated, anywhere, that we cannot have both?

However, when one is clearly priced out of reach vs the other, they aren't competitors. The price, by their own admission, isn't staying this "low" beyond the launch period - if you can even buy it. Limited run, too.

Why not have the M.2 slot face the device under the SBC...

QuoteSay it with me: "If it's twice the price, then it's not a Raspberry Pi competitor."

When will they finally work this out...

It's so absurd that we're in the position that, despite having a massive market of ARM licensed SBCs with no shortage of powerful hardware options, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people out there, patiently waiting for 2021, when they can finally once again buy a SBC that's worth buying, because they don't have to think about the price.

The single board computer comes with up to 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. The Khadas VIM3 will launch on June 24 and runs Android 9.0 Pie, LibreELEC or Ubuntu.
