Crappy displays and 16GB soldered, pass. Otherwise commendable.

The original one was nice, but the glossy (and big) bezel around the screen made it looked old fashioned. I welcome the matte bezel this time, but the reduction in bezel size didn't actually reduce the laptop dimensions due to the hinge being put inside the laptop rather than on the edge due to that exhaust area. If anything, it's even bigger given the top corners.

I can understand that people digged the Area 51M design as more fitting to Alienware brand, but given EXACTLY the same dimensions, was the soldered RAM necessary?? Instead of having the option to upgrade to 32 GB, you can now only choose between 8 and 16 soldered RAM. That's totally lame. I hope Dell didn't make this decision based on nobody buying 32 GB of RAM from them, which is logical since they put such high margin on the RAM upgrades.

It looks great but it's totally going to offer a 1650 at $1500. No thanks.

Regulators are cool but why make it even thinner?? The original m15/m17 was a puffed, pumped breath of fresh air in the world of feather-light razor-thin Throttlebooks... Why return to that swamp when warm and hungry 9 Gen Intels deserve better?

And the design is debatable. Sorry guys, another UFO laptop. The classics have been left behind. Just an imho.

Now just need 120Hz OLED panel and it's perfect.

The higher-end SKUs will utilize 8-phase and 6-phase graphics and processor regulators, respectively, with the promise of better performance sustainability. The new chassis is 11 percent thinner than the Alienware m17 R1 while weighing about the same. Optional Tobii eye-tracking returns alongside a narrower "chin" bezel.
