Would you recommend this laptop for a graphic designer?
Would the i5 8250u overheat and throttle with Photoshop & Illustrator usage or is that only in heavy sustained load?

I have been looking for a unit with the 400 cd/m screen in the UK and couldn't find one anywhere! Got in touch with HP and they said they can only be obtained on a custom build. They are pricing up a couple of variants now. Anyone know of an alternative place to get a custom build?

Good article. A 220 nit screen review would be more honest though, as that by far will be the most common option sold to the punters. I have an inkling the 220 nit screens are rubbish as some on here seem to have already found out.

If its 8th Gen Intel and has 2 slots, then it supports maximum 64GB of RAM.
Each DDR4 slot can take a 32GB DIMM module, and theoretical system limit post 4th Gen Haswell is 128GB.

Just got brand new X360 440 G1 from an online retailer (Jan 2019). The screen doesn't look great, my Spyder5 Elite Colorimiter is reporting just 66% sRGB coverage. Looks HP have changed the screen. I'm sending it back.

Hello,
I was also interested to find out which model has the 400 nits screen and after a little bit of googling I found only one mention in an HP promotional flyer for Austria (google for "4QW49ES ips 400 site:hp.com"), where it states that model 4QW49ES should have a "14" FHD IPS 400 Display".

Of course this is only indicative and it would be probably better to double check with an HP sales contact, anyway model 4QW49ES#ABD has similar specs and it includes also an LTE modem, so it could really be the same model from the review.

There are other similar mentions pointing to that very model number at other german reseller's sites, but I do not know if they are accurate.

I will wait that said model becomes available in my country as I do not like the german keyboard layout... ;)

Hope it helps,
Paolo

HP's specifications for 440 G1 also state that there are two displays, 220 and 400 nits (correspondingly having worse and better colors as well). How can I figure out which model is 400 nits with better colors?

You have made an inaccuracy. Hevlet Packard offers two FullHD display options with a brightness of 220 and 400 nits
