If we are talking branded alternatives, Beagleboard Bone pops up immediatelly. I am sure there are plenty others from the likes of Freescale etc

I wasn't talking about all those anonymous alternatives that you can find on AliExpress. Sorry for not making that clear. If we take Chinese anonymous products into account, there are countless alternatives for virtually anything.

"not many [raspberry pi alternatives] lying around" . . . What are you smoking? There are hundreds of Rpi alternatives out there. Do some damn research before you make a half assed article.
