I own this laptop for 5 months now and I DO NOT recommend it.

Pros:
- Beautiful colors and great color accuracy
- Great keyboard
- Tent mode

Cons:
- Terrible performance (when you want to multitask, it freezes a lot. Adobe programs and 8-10 tabs in and it is lagging)
- Poor batter life (around 3-4 hours with half brightness and saving mode)
- Awful backlight bleeding, especially at the bottom right corner where the heat is coming out of the laptop.
- It gets really hot under load, you have to use a cooler under it.
- Awful coil whine. But really load. I have to use a headphone if I work in quite place, because it drives me crazy.
- Terrible touchpad. I could install windows precision driver with help from Reddit. It is better than with the official driver, but still unresponsive most of the time, zooming in and out randomly.
- Coming back from sleep mode usually slow or laggy. But I read this is common with laptops with 4k touchscreens
- The screen is like a mirror if you want to use it in a bright place. If you have a window behind you, you can't see sht. The colors are beautiful, but you need a proper lightning to see them.
- Finally, it has scaling problems with Windows, not sure if it is asus related or the win10 is so bad. Blurry, pixelated stuffs are very common.

Anyway I sent back to ASUS but they refused to do anything about the issues, they told me, there are "features" of the laptop, not issues. The coil whine doesn't reach the 20db, so it is fine they say. Like wtf..

Can anyone tell me how exactly to remove the bottom panel? I feel like I'll break the panel around the hinges. Is there a hidden screw or something?

DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP!

The specs are amazing! HOWEVER: the bottom left corner of the screen has a strange burn in effect, and multiple users on the bestbuy comments have shown that this model consistenly has a defective screen. I sent mine in to ASUS for warranty repair and they completely ignored the problem and said it wasn't their fault! If you do buy it, make sure you buy an extended warranty somewhere! >:(

Hi,

Is it possible to upgrade the RAM ? Change 8gb by 16gb ? Is it soldered ? Is there one or two slots ?

Thanks

Great display stats. Don't forget to also point out that here we have a true UHD, non-PenTile, 3840(RGB)x2160 panel from ASUS this time. ASUS has been notorious in the past for sourcing and using RG/BW, not-true-3840x2160 displays, in 15.6" models that listed this resolution spec.

With true UHD, high Adobe RGB, and high brightness, this is perhaps ASUS' first confirmed new product to use a 15.6" display that's as good as the old Zenbook NX500 "Quantum Dot" display.

I think it would  have shown great understanding of the market for this information to have been included in the review. ASUS' use of faux high-res panels has been a huge issue over the past few years. But nonetheless the inclusion of the panel model, sRGB/aRGB/brightness/contrast measurements, and subpixel matrix photo, are excellent as always. Keep that up.

Well-conceived convertible! The ZenBook Flip combines a multitude of devices into one. The suitability for gaming is no more a problem for the slim convertible than CPU-heavy applications are. This detailed review will show whether there is a catch somewhere.
