Hey Daniel,

First off, thanks so much for reading; we truly appreciate it.

Secondly, thanks for catching this.  You're right; the original source I used for the panel info appears to have mistakenly miscategorized it as IPS, probably thanks to the fact that it really does seem like an IPS panel.  But alas, it is indeed TN LED -- albeit very good quality TN LED.

I've updated the review to reflect the "IPS-like" viewing angles from the TN panel.  Thanks again for catching this!

Are you sure this was a IPS panel and not MSI's special/improved TN panel with 94% NTSC gamut and "IPS-Like" wider-view angle?

From other reviews, they seem to measure about the same colour gamut as you from the TN panel(100% sRGB and 77%NTSC)?  Where as the IPS spec. is 72% NTSC colour gamut and thus scores a little lower than the TN panel in colour gamut readings.

This is all very confusing, if one wants to be sure to get a 120Hz IPS panel!  ;-)

Deceptively lightweight... MSI's latest 17.3-inch gaming notebook to reach our labs covers most of the bases just as we'd expect, with a little twist: it's surprisingly light! How does this $1,600 mid-range gaming notebook stack up against its peers?
