This is one of the greatest business class design. I went shopping for Think pad series. But, bought out this one as the Think pad stock was empty. I went for the 256GB NVME SSD, 4GB X 2 DD4 RAM and 7600U i7 Processor with built in intel graphics. I was skeptical about it at first. Liked only the keyboard at first. I still love the think pad series. Mostly I wanted to buy think pad only for it'sbeautiful keyboard and minimalistic design. As a programmer, I love the feeling of a good keyboard. But I am not dissapointed. I am quite happy with the machine. I liked the minimalistic design like think pad and silent keyboard dell designed. The 7th gen CPU  is performing very well.  Loved this little beast of Dell

Hello, is it safe that the laptop can not be used with two hard drives? I bought it with an HDD and I want to add an SSD m2.

Thanks for clearing

Raises the question of whether the display brightness has effect on wifi battery measurement? Some of these tests should run display off or normalized to "non-dim levels" and "fail" the laptops that default max brightness to a level where 100% isn't bright but merely adequate. (I would probably say that if the brightness at 100% isn't atleast 300 then fail the laptop entirely as experience shows it's too dim then even in indoors use if sun is shining .. there's a reason macs have 500 brightness...)

I believe some mfgs are gaming the battery benchs by adjusting display default 100% level brightness because they know some are measuring battery time in simplistic fashion.

Dear NBC, please review the 15" Latitude 5580 as well. It comes with a 92 Whr battery configuration and optional dual and quad core processors. It's a potential competitor to Lenovo Thinkpad T570.

I bought one with 7820HQ a couple of weeks ago and, sadly, it has the same problem, that my previous Dell laptop had: irritating coil whine.
It is audible not only under heavy loads, but when the system is idle as well, and I perfectly hear it.
So, I'm going to return it as the first Dell: such design flaws are unacceptable for me in such a not very cheap product.

Hi, was the quad core version's screen also dimm? Cause the quadcore version will be perfect for me except they cheaped out on the screen this time.

Seeing as the Latitude 5480 weights about 1.8kg and comes with both dual and quad-core cpu selection, isn't it more comparable to Thinkpads T460, T560 and T460p than the T460s or the X1 carbon 4th gen? Especially to the T series with their extended 72wh batteries?

My personal opinion: Laptops with low quality displays should never go beyoud 80%, no matter how powerful hardware they've got or how good the craftsmanship is.

Mid-range workhorse. Dell's business-oriented 14-inch Latitude 5480 is a rather unassuming notebook with a host of security features and configuration options. Its standout feature is without a doubt the stellar battery life, but compared to the predecessor, the display brightness has taken a major hit.
