This computer is not good. I've had many problems with it and it is a constant battle to keep it working. So bad that I even have BSOD while trying to reset it.

Hi, has anyone successfully ran a triple monitor setup (3x1080 or 3x1440). Is it even possible with the onboard 970m? There is a USB C and a single HDMI port so I was wondering if I should daisy chain via USB C or get a USB C dock.

Absolutely DO NOT buy this laptop.Horrible product.I. purchased Alienware 15 R2 in December and its already not working. The damn laptop wont start. Alienware service is also very horrible. They sent a technician who didn't know how to operate the laptop and I had to provide him with the user manual to open the laptop.Even after this the technician has ruined my laptop by manhandling all the wires. He replaced the motherboard without using the cooling gel on the cpu and gpu and when asked by me about this his reply was Dell does not provide that thing. Also the laptop is still not working and it has been more than 1 week since the issue started. Very Disappointed

I've been using it for a year now. The laptop's specs are really good. However, after the windows 10 update, the drivers kind of get screwed up and crash a lot. Re-installed them a couple of times, but now everything seems to work fine, with very rare crashes like any other laptop would have. For those who are looking to buy one, just keep in mind that the Dell service is really very poor. I spent a total of £111 just on calls. Their pro care is really bad. One of the customer care employees even uninstalled my WiFi and Ethernet driver by accident, that's how inexperienced they are. No doubt the laptop has an amazing performance, but do keep in mind that the customer support is also essential, and that dell has a really bad one.

:'(.. Well after twenty days my new 15r2 is going back.   When it arrived it was having high memory usage  issues... Before I even installed any apps... Two hrs later and a complete windows reinstall that problem was fixed... Now after three weeks of wireless that never works consistently .... And another three hrs with Dell support... Who could never fix the issue I give up... Dell called it a software issue,  I call it poor design...and the customer service is lacking.... It was to be my fourth dell unit... Now it will be my last

I wonder if it's possible to connect multiple displays in daisy chain via this new USB Type-C port (because the old good DisplayPort 1.2 is not longer available on the R2 model). For example, I have 3 external monitors Dell U2515H (2560x1440 each) and I would like to connect them to this new port. Different web sites say different stuff. What I understand is that you need to make sure that this USB Type-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode in order to be able to connect multiple external displays in daisy chain from this single port. But I dont see anything about this support on Dell site. Neither Intel site says anything. Any reply would be appreciated.

There are Dell Docks available on Amazon. You can connect the dock to your laptop using USB type C.

What is the difference between PM950 and SM950?

I have this same laptop and I can't seem to find any benchmarks comparisons between these two SSDs.

Please answer my question

I just bought a 15 R2 with the i7-6820HK in it. I'm not having any disappointments about the 1080 display, in fact I usually keep it at 50% brightness or lower. The colors are just fine once you tweak them with the on-board Intel display program. The sound is whats actually ticking me off, it's just terrible. Once the volume is over 50% it's just completely useless to try any more. The imperceivable bass seems to draw the power from the speakers completely and effects treble sucking volume out of the speakers. I don't know why Soundblaster can't make a decent product. The sound card seems to be completely under-powered or something.

I've had 2 17 r3's now. The wifi does cut out occasionally but seems to get better with each driver release. The bigger problem is that i'm going on my THIRD brand new laptop. They've all had fan problems. The 17" 4K screen is beautiful and covers 100% adobe RGB (confirmed with a calibration), believe it or not. Now if they could just send me one with fans that worked.
