I'm the same Bill that commented on this review a bit over 6 years ago now.

I've still got the M2 8 - Premium. As a matter of fact, I recently replaced its battery after having it tethered to my PC for several years as its original had failed. It was a relatively simple process and I was done in ~20 minutes.

Anyway, the tablet still runs well despite its now ancient age in technology years.

I've assigned it as a multimedia server dedicated remote control with some occasional Web browsing, and I suspect that I could get another 6 years usages out of it if it weren't forever stuck on a decidedly old version of Android.

All in all, I'd purchase another tablet from the manufacturer again based upon my experience with this one.

Based on this review and a few others I read/viewed, I purchased this device about a month ago from a local technology retailer at great price - they had in on sale at $205US! I was eyeing up this and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8; for the money, the Huawei was a better option and I certainly don't regret my decision.

Thanks, again, for the great reviews and please keep up the great work!

Kind regards,
Bill 8)

I have one which I'm happy with. Playing Real Racing 3 stutters a bit when many cars are in view. In normal use it's great, picks up 3g and WiFi better than my Moto X Play.

Is there any news on it getting Marshmallow?

Metal head. Unlike its precursor, Huawei's MediaPad M2 8.0 is now clad in only a metal casing. The tablet again scores with a potent HiSilicon Kirin octa-core processor, decent HD IPS touchscreen, and great battery life. The latest Android 5.1 operating system and swift Wi-Fi round off the couch surfer - a good deal at approximately 280 Euros.
