If you want gaming, don't do it on a laptop. That should be the general rule. There are only a few exceptions to it, but from the money and upgradeability perspective, the desktop is always the best choice.

I don't like how laptop manufacter just put a mainstream GTX on their product and call it a gaming laptop. After using a ~1100 usd "gaming laptop" like this one, I tell my self do not gaming on cheap gaming laptop. Once you gaming, go to these high end laptop or desktop, because the heat issue will make your lap look like a crap after less than 2 year.
