You are right, STOCK KitKat works fine on devices with 512 MB RAM. My ZTE Open C, for example, ships loaded with Firefox OS OR KitKat. On the other hand, Samsung's TouchWiz UI needs much more resources than stock Android KitKat.

I thought kitkak was supposed to provide smooth ride on devices with 500mb Ram. This mostly sounds like samsung wanting to make the S3 obsolete on purpose.
I have lots of friends with international S3, its still a nice phone today.
