Nvidia startet auf der CES 2013 mit einer eigenen Spielekonsole durch. Project Shield, so der Name der ersten mobilen Spielkonsole für offene Plattformen von Nvidia, wurde für mobiles Gaming entwickelt und ist eine Kampfansage an Sony und Co.
